Sebesta Blomberg is providing owner representation to support a contractor-led commissioning program for The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Alkek Hospital Expansion in Houston, Texas. Sebesta Blomberg is supporting the design/build project by monitoring, witnessing and coordinating the contractor commissioning activities, as well as providing commissioning program document development services. The $239 million expansion of the existing 16-story Alkek Patient Care Facility involves the addition of nine new floors of inpatient care spaces, totaling 491,000 gsf on top of the existing structure while it remains in service. Additionally, the project includes an upgrade, retrofit and expansion of the existing MEP systems to provide additional capacity as well as improved energy performance.
