Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport
To replace the existing airport, originally built in 1948, the new 4,000-acre Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is designed to be a LEED certified terminal building. Design with a state-of-the-art storm water management system, use of sustainable materials, and a landscaping plan that will not require supplemental irrigation, the Airport will be built on a Greenfield site with room to meet demands for the next 50 years. The facility includes a seven-gate terminal building, air traffic control tower, rental car facilitates, public safety building, maintenance facility, utility building, and an air cargo building. Providing commissioning services for the Airport, Sebesta Blomberg worked with the project team to ensure the project is being designed, constructed and commissioned for operation and maintenance to sustain life cycle sustainability and system energy efficiencies with the application of LEED Green principles.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is considered to be the world’s busiest airport, handling over 80 million travelers and 700,000 tons of cargo each year. To enable the airport to meet future demands, the City of Atlanta initiated the $5.4 billion Hartsfield Development Program. The expansion plans include a new fifth runway, expansion of the east international terminal, new consolidated rental car facility, new south terminal, improvements to the Central Passenger Terminal Complex, airfield improvements, and support facilities. The Airport is pursing LEED Silver certification. Sebesta Blomberg teamed with the Airport to perform commissioning activities, including cooling, heating, air-handling systems; HVAC controls systems, plumbing water systems, life safety and fire alarm systems, electrical systems and indoor air quality.
Indianapolis International Airport
Covering 1.2 million square feet, the Indianapolis International Airport features 40 gates on two concourses. Designed for maximum convenience, comfort and safety, it serves more than 8 million passengers each year. The project included a new passenger terminal building, ticketing hall, international facilities with Customs and Immigration and Naturalization Service areas, domestic baggage claim areas, 100% in-line baggage screening system, 18-passenger screening checkpoints, CCTV surveillance and access control devices, 10 moving walkways, state-of-the-art communications systems, and a 6,000-space parking garage. In support of LEED certification for the Airport, Sebesta Blomberg provided professional commissioning services for the new terminal building and parking structure. Professional follow-on Facility Transition Program services were also provided to execute the seamless transition from construction to operations for the entire facility.
