The University of Texas The new $80 million, six-story building in Houston is home to the Center for Laboratory Animal Medicine and Care on the top two floors, and the lab modules provide flexibility in configuration for four specific focus groups: structural biology, neurobiology, molecular biology and functional genomics. Sebesta Blomberg provided owner’s representation services to assist with the monitoring, sampling, application and witnessing of the contractor activities, with a strong focus on infrastructure systems. Construction support services provided technical expertise in determining completing of the contractual work associated with project documentation. |

HealthEast Care System St. John's Hospital was originally built in 1983, with significant additions in 1989 and 1998. The original controls system was pneumatic, with a DDC controls system implemented during the 1998 addition for all new construction and central equipment. The aging DDC system had exceeded its useful life and increasingly could not meet the hospital’s needs. Sebesta Blomberg was contracted to design and manage a controls system replacement project. This began by investigating the existing systems and reviewing their purpose for improvements; controllability, sequence and minor mechanical and electrical improvements. Bid documents were created for a controls system replacement project, including minor mechanical and electrical improvements. We worked with the Owner to identify potential controls, mechanical and electrical contractors. What began as a “simple” controls system replacement project grew to include the replacement of two air handlers and an expansion of the chilled water plant, following a similar process of system evaluation for improvements and subsequent implementation. |
